Oklahoma City, OK – November 4, 2009

Candidates for office in 2010 were required to file fundraising reports with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission this week. Brittany Novotny, who is challenging incumbent Sally Kern (R-Oklahoma City) in House District 84, reported total receipts for the third quarter of $9,465. The total is particularly impressive, considering that Novotny only began raising money as of August 24, less than six weeks before the end of the reporting period.

Rep. Kern reported total receipts of $10,843.94 during the entire three month reporting period. Additionally, based on the filed reports, Novotny reports 129 donors of $50 or less, while Kern’s funds came mostly from larger donors. Kern only reported 19 donors of $50 or less during the same period.

“These fundraising reports show that a lot of Oklahomans are ready to build a brighter future in Oklahoma, and our campaign to do that in House District 84 is built on solid grassroots support,” said Novotny.
